By Niccolò Sanarico • Issue #72 • View online
Hello,
I am Niccolò from Primo Ventures. Welcome back to my digest of the latest news from the Italian startup ecosystem.
In this issue: Caracol, Epicura, and 4Securitas raise funding; CDP VC announces a new fund; Objectway shops in Germany; the relevance of Italian crowdfunding.
Enjoy the reading, see you on the other side,
N.

The Money
  • Caracol, a large-scale additive manufacturing startup, raised €3.5m in a round led by Primo Ventures and EUREKA! Ventures Sgr.
  • Epicura, a “digital medical clinic”, 🇮🇹raised €5m in a round led by Europ Assistance, an insurance company.
  • Irish startup 4Securitas, developing AI security tools, raised €2m from Cysero.
Liquidity events
CDP VC
CDP Venture Capital 🇮🇹announced the launch of the new “Fondo Corporate Partners I”, its ninth fund focused on four specific verticals and aimed at involving Italian enterprises in its investments. The four verticals are Industry Tech, Energy Tech, Service Tech, and Infrastructure Tech. The fund raised €180m and aims at a €400m final closing.
The relevance of crowdfunding in Italy
🇮🇹According to research by CrowdfundingBuzz, in 2021 48% (by number) and 21% (by amount raised, ~€56m) of investments up to €8m raised by Italian startups happened through crowdfunding platforms. Pre-seed and seed rounds are happening more and more often thanks to the crowd.
