The week in Italian startups - Issue #1

Foreword

Things are going particularly dire in Italy (and abroad) - this might not be the best of times to start a startup-related newsletter, yet I feel it is about time we start being a bit more visible, a bit more open. Every Sunday (or so), in this column you will find the news I found most representative of what is going on here.

Enjoy the journey!

The Money

  • Fiscozen, an online platform to support professionals in their tax obligations, has secured a 🇬🇧3M Series A round from United Ventures.

  • Salvacasa, a benefit startup which helps defaulted homeowners in saving their houses and managing their debt, raised 1M in a crowdfunding campaign.

The Innovators

  • Innovation at work: 🇬🇧A team of Italian engineers 3D printed special valves, required for using life-saving ICU machinery, currently in short supply. The company owning the IP did not particularly like their action.

  • 🇮🇹Taxi drivers in Rome will start delivering food and medicines through the WeTaxi app.

  • The Italian Ministry for Innovation has launched a "🇮🇹digital solidarity campaign" where startups and enterprises can offer free versions of their digital services and products to support Italian companies. Services range from e-learning to smartworking, computing, ecommerce, logistics.

'Til next time!
